Maxine Mimms Academies

Maxine Mimms Academies strive to break down educational and economic barriers for teens and young adults. Our original emphasis focused on students who had either been suspended or expelled or have dropped out of Tacoma, Washington, public schools. Since 2012 we have been developing additional criteria regarding workforce development, post-traumatic stress disorder and urban agriculture. Our curricula for urban agriculture and student re-engagement are available for implementation anywhere.

Featured Program: Garden of Eden Demonstration Project

The Garden of Eden (GOE) is a community agricultural initiative; designed to grow and harvest an abundance of organic vegetables, herbs, plants, and flowers every month throughout the year. In addition to supplying abundant quality food, this initiative creates several long term well paid jobs and a new sustainable economic institution. (Learn More)
